It is considered that Brahma, the Hindu God is the creator of Ayurveda. He then disseminated the rich knowledge of Ayurveda to his subsequent generations and disciples. And the tradition of passing down the knowledge and practices from Gods to sages got initiated. The rishis and munis then started keeping records of their discoveries in the holy book of Vedas. These books are known to be the world’s oldest form of literature written in Sanskrit. The book has four different sections: the Rig Veda, the Yajur Veda, the Sama Veda and the Atharva Veda. Out of the four, the most recent is the Atharva Veda where the knowledge of India’s ancient medical practice is comprehensively and systematically recorded.
